Membership renewal
Renewal of FIMS membership is very important to FIMS. In order to facilitate your FIMS membership renewal every year, a procedure of sending reminders by email to members is followed. This process differs slightly between different membership types. Please make sure that you follow the correct procedure for the membership type that your are renewing.
The first step in the process is therefore to make sure that your FIMS membership details are up to date (update your details by clicking here). This is most important as your email address could be incorrect or you may have been un-subscribed from the mailing list. In general, members will be notified, via email, 1-3 months prior to their subscription expiring.
Here is the procedure for each membership type:
FIMS Individual membership:
Individual members will be notified, via email, 1-3 months prior to their subscription expiring. If you are currently not receiving mail from FIMS please update your member details as your email address could be incorrect or you may have been un-subscribed from the mailing list.
Here is the stepwise renewal process for FIMS Individual membership
- Member receives renewal email reminder
- Member should follow the link to the FIMS website
- Member renews membership through online pament (Visa, Mastercard or American Express)
- Membership is immediately active
- An invoice is emailed to the member
- If payment confirmation is not received your account will be deactivated

FIMS Institutional / Library membership
Institutional members will be notified, via email, 1-3 months prior to their subscription expiring. If you are currently not receiving mail from FIMS please update your member details as your email address could be incorrect or you may have been un-subscribed from the mailing list.
Here is the stepwise renewal process for FIMS Institutional membership
- The Institution representative receives renewal email reminder
- The Institution representative follows the link to FIMS website
- The Institution renews membership through online pament (Visa, Mastercard or American Express)
- Membership is immediately active
- An invoice is emailed to the institutional reporesentative
- If payment confirmation is not received your account will be deactivated

FIMS National Association block membership renewal
National Assocaitions with block membership will be notified, via an email the the Secretary of that Association, 1-3 months prior to their subscription expiring. If Teh Secretary is not receiving mail from FIMS please update your details as your email address could be incorrect or you may have un-subscribed from the mailing list.
Here is the stepwise renewal process for FIMS National Assocation membership
- The Secretary of the National Association block member country receives renewal email reminder
- A copy of this email is sent to the FIMS treasurer
- An invoice is sent to the National Association secretary
- National Association Secretary renews block membership
- If payment confirmation is not received, theaccount will be deactivated

FIMS fellowship membership
FIMS Fellows (other than Honorary members) will be notified, via email, 1-3 months prior to their subscription expiring. If you are currently not receiving mail from FIMS please update your member details as your email address could be incorrect or you may have been un-subscribed from the mailing list.
Here is the stepwise renewal process for FIMS Fellowship membership
- The FIMS Fellow receives renewal email reminder
- The FIMS Fellow follows the link to FIMS website
- The FIMS Fellow renews membership via credit card or direct deposit
- Membership is immediately active
- An invoice is emailed to the member
- If payment confirmation is not received your account will be deactivated
