FIMS Collaborating Centers of Sports Medicine Steering Group
Terms of Reference
1. Purpose:
This Steering group oversees all CCSM educational and research activities and will ensure alignment with the FIMS mission to advance excellence in sports medicine, education and research.
2. Core Responsibilities:
- Propose to the Executive Committee standards for CCSM accreditation, oversight, and renewal.
- Promote collaboration between the Centers to fulfil the goals mentioned in the purpose.
- Based on education and research provides strategic guidance on expanding CCSM influence and outreach.
- Evaluate and endorse new CCSM application based on the guidelines of FIMS standards and propose their review to the FIMS Executive Committee.
- Facilitate regular virtual meetings to support knowledge sharing and netsteering.
3. Membership:
- Consist of 4 -6 members and is chaired by the Education Commission Chairperson.
- Members must reflect geographic and professional diversity in sports medicine, research, and education and should consider also geographical diversity inbedding CCSMs from different continents.
- Members will be proposed by the Education Commission Chair to the Executive Committee approval.
4.Meetings:
- At least two virtual meetings annually, plus one in-person session at least every other year during FIMS World Congress of Sports Medicine
5. Reporting Structure:
- Reports to the FIMS Executive Committee. Delivers all proposals of a new educational activities and research projects before implementation to the FIMS Bureau for confirmation.
- Delivers annual updates and strategic recommendations.
6. Review Cycle:
- The Terms of Reference are reviewed every two years conjunction with the FIMS World Congress or when required.
