FIMS World Congress 2026 Site Visit – Santiago, Chile, 7 November 2025
Congress theme: Sports Medicine for Every-Body
The recent site visit held to Santiago, Chile — host city of the FIMS World Congress of Sports Medicine 2026 — was a resounding success. The FIMS site visiting team, including the President of FIMS Prof. Fabio Pigozzi, Secretary General Prof. José Kawazoe Lazzoli, Chair of the Scientific Commission Prof. Yannis Pitsiladis, and local organisers leaded by Prof. Marcelo Sajuria collaborated of the conference planning. Together, they ensured that the event fully embodies the bold and inclusive theme: "Sports Medicine for Every-Body."
This theme reflects FIMS's deep commitment to widening the reach and relevance of sports medicine — to include all bodies, all communities, and all levels of performance and participation. The FIMS President stated "Sports medicine must serve every-body — not just the elite, not just the able-bodied, not just the few. This Congress is a global call to inclusivity, to innovation, and to action. From grassroots to greatness, sports medicine for every-body is not just a theme — it is our mission."
The selected venue — the InterContinental Santiago — was confirmed as ideal. It offers an integrated environment where the entire FIMS Family, including speakers and delegates, will be accommodated and convene under one roof. Located in the heart of the city, the venue combines convenience, accessibility, and elegance, ensuring that the Congress experience will be seamless, inspiring, and truly world-class.
In addition to formal planning, the FIMS site visit team also experienced select highlights from the upcoming social programme. These moments reflected the rich hospitality and cultural energy that will welcome the global sports medicine community in 2026. This preview affirmed the value of integrating professional, cultural, and social engagement throughout the Congress experience.
From inspiring venues and cultural touches to a highly motivated local team, preparations in Santiago are well underway. Delegates and speakers can expect:
- a high-quality scientific programme,
- interactive sessions,
- a world-class social programme, and
- the unmistakable warmth of Chilean hospitality.
Abstract submissions will open soon, and a preview of the scientific programme and speaker line-up will follow.
We look forward to welcoming the global sports medicine community to an unforgettable experience in Santiago.
