Dear Colleagues, dear Friends,

It is with great pleasure that I would like to inform you about the decisions taken in  the last FIMS Executive Committee Meeting held in Shanghai on 26th April 2012.

After the important milestone represented by the definitive settlement of the Headquarters at the Maison du Sport Internationale in Lausanne, and the consequent change of the FIMS Statutes according to the Swiss Law, another important objective is going to be reached: a project planned by the Executive Committee upon its election is being finalized, the establishment of FIMS Collaborating Centres of Excellence with the aim to facilitate regional and national educational and research networks, to promote best practice sport medicine principles for athlete care, and the promotion of active living on an international basis.

Here are the relevant dates concerned:

  • Call for Applications- May 8, 2012
  • Deadline for Submissions- June 30, 2012
  • Task Force Recommendations of Evaluated Applications- August 30, 2012
  • Inaugural Meeting at FIMS World Congress, September 2012

I am also delighted to inform you that five months prior to the start of the Rome World Congress, there are already more than 1700 registrations and a lot of promising abstracts on different topics,  that together with the quality of plenary and parallel sessions  promise to make the 32nd  FIMS World Congress of Sports Medicine an exceptional scientific and professional experience that all FIMS members are cordially invited to share. I would like to invite you to visit the congress website for more details at: www.fimsroma2012.org

I look forward to welcoming all of you participants in the Rome Congress, and on behalf of the International Federation of Sports Medicine let me warmly send you and your families my very best regards.
