Team Physician and Sports Physiotherapy course at BISS
The Bangladesh Institute of Sports Sciences/BISS is pleased to recognize those people who gave their commitment, support and contribution to the 2009 Team Physician and Sports Physiotherapy courses which were held in Bangladesh from 3-13 December 2009. For the first time in Bangladesh, multi-discipline professionals showed their interest and joined in these two courses.
The Team Physician Course was organized by the Bangladesh Institute of Sports Sciences. Co-sponsors were the Bangladesh Medical Association/BMANA, North America, Turkish Sports Medicine Association, Turkey Sports Physiotherapy Clinic, Vancouver, and the Atomic Energy Center inDhaka, Bangladesh.
The program started at the Opening Ceremony on 3rd December 2009, and the venue was the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Auditorium. The Chief Guest was Prof.Dr. Sayed Modasser Ali (Adviser to Honourable Prime Minister, Health and Family Welfare and Social Welfare). Other special guests were Dr. (Capt) Mozibur Rahman Fakir (State Minister of Health and Family Welfare), H.E Mr. Sakir Ozkan (Torunlar Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey), Chairperson Dr.Mohammd Zubayer (President BISS). The welcome address was given by Mr. Faruqul Islam, the Secretary General of BISS.
The number of the participants in Team Physician course was 62 and number of the Sports Physiotherapy course was 193. Experts teaching on the Team Physician & Sports Physiotherapy courses from were from abroad and included the following: Prof Dr.Emin ERGEN from Turkey, Prof.Dr.Rustu S.Guner from Turkey, Mr.Carl Peterson from Canada, Dr.Soumendra Saha from India, and Dr.Srilekha Saha. Prominent members from the local Faculty were as follows: Prof.Dr.Mohammad Zubayer, Mr.Faruqul Islam, Dr.Debashis Chowdhury, Dr.Gouranga Bairagi, Dr.Iqbal Kabir, Prof.A.K.M Salek, Prof.Abu Zafar Chowdhury, and Dr.Mohammad Jahangir Khan.
The program closed on the 13th December 2009 at the National Sports Council Tower Auditorium. The chief guest was Prof. Dr. A. F. M. Ruhul Haque (Honourable Minister, Minister of Health and Family Welfare). Other special guest at this occasion were Mr. Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin (MP Convener Medical Committee S.A.Games 2009), Mrs.Quomaran Nessa Khanam (Secretary Ministry of Social Welfare), Prof. AAMS Arefin Siddique (Vice Chancellor Dhaka University), Prof. Dr. Sarufuddin Ahmad (Secretary General Bangladesh Medical Association),and Dr.Mohammad Zubayer (President BISS) and Mr.Faruqul Islam(Secretary General BISS).
The organizers noted that exceptional work was presented and they are working very hard to introduce these subjects, which are quite new to the country. They wish to thank all for their support and contribution where "Together We Can Make A Difference". In light of the progress, in the country this will influence "Education without Borders" and will seek to help each other with non-conflicting operations, mutual understanding, and camaraderie among the nations.
Upcoming courses in the country include courses in conjunction with the American College of Sports Medicine/ACSM and Sports Arthroscopy courses and these will be held in December 2010 and January 2011 in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
The President of BISS believes and hopes that members will participate in upcoming courses and know that their contribution will help to lead the programme successfully so the country can increase in popularity among the nations in the fields of advanced science, medical education, technology, training and treatment.
