The Scientific Commission of FIMS prepares the FIMS Position Statements, which are intended to provide practical guidelines to practitioners in areas of sports medicine where there is controversy or a lack of clarity.
Once an area for investigation has been identified, the Scientific Commission sets up a Task Force that examines the published literature on the subject and consults with experts in the field. A policy document is formulated which is an interpretation of the current scientific evidence, and it is published as a Position Statement.
